Known for their artisanal tendencies, the boys at Proenza Schouler, Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough, produced a powerful collection for Fall 2012 that was storied, daring, and modern all at the same time. Lazaro and Jack drew their Far East inspiration from a month-long trip to the Himalayas through Bhutan and Nepal. Playing with the idea of protection, they deconstructed the masks and samurai uniforms worn by Kendo swordsmen into wearable skirts and jackets with woven leather. Dazzling prints of landscapes and silk embroidered birds made the kimono-like eveningwear feel extra special. Of course, no discussion of Proenza Schouler would be complete with talking about their coveted bags – the PS1 and PS11 – that will be available in even more kaleidoscopic colors and sizes this Fall.
