Outfit Inspiration: How to Wear A Pop of Color
We’re all about brights this summer. They’re everywhere we turn. But they’ve gotta be worn in moderation. Elyse came to work the other day in a cool summery ensemble that had just the right splash of electricity. She built her outfit around a neon tangerine A.L.C. top, which she layered under a neutral, blush-tone Haute Hippie blazer from the same color family. She paired her bright top with a silver and white print Elizabeth and James skirt that also works as a neutral and adds a textural element without competing with her vibrant top. She accessorized with long beaded necklaces from The Woods (an Elyse Walker staple!) and embellished sandals, for a pitch-perfect office outfit that can be worn straight to a post-work dinner or event. Just remember, a little color goes a long way. Happy dressing!

Newsflash: We’re adding London-based footwear designer Charlotte Olympia to the Elyse Walker mix this Fall! Each pair of the designer’s whimsical shoes is handcrafted in Italy and features a signature gold spiderweb on the sole. Charlotte Olympia has already made a name for herself among the celebrity set with fashion tastemakers like Alexa Chung, Katy Perry, and Sarah Jessica Parker all sporting her Kitty Flats, featured above. The smoking flat, one of our fave styles, will also be available for Fall in a rich red hue with cobweb detailing and spider embellishment. Charlotte’s signature web can also be found adorning some fantastic clutches that pair perfectly with her sky-high, architectural platforms for a night out. Rag & Bone Fall 2012 Preview
With their Fall 2012 collection for Rag & Bone, David Neville and Marcus Wainwright demonstrated once again that they have an uncanny ability to know what women want. Tanks and sweaters were not only special enough to stand alone, but also great for layering on cold winter nights with their standout black and bronze skinny pants. We particularly loved the outwear, which was inspired by a blend of English tailoring and Indian textiles. David and Marcus mixed prints and fabrics just like their urban-dwelling downtown girl would.
We were thrilled to attend their Fashion Show in New York and snapped a couple behind-the-scenes pictures for you!

Proenza Schouler Fall 2012 Preview
Known for their artisanal tendencies, the boys at Proenza Schouler, Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough, produced a powerful collection for Fall 2012 that was storied, daring, and modern all at the same time. Lazaro and Jack drew their Far East inspiration from a month-long trip to the Himalayas through Bhutan and Nepal. Playing with the idea of protection, they deconstructed the masks and samurai uniforms worn by Kendo swordsmen into wearable skirts and jackets with woven leather. Dazzling prints of landscapes and silk embroidered birds made the kimono-like eveningwear feel extra special. Of course, no discussion of Proenza Schouler would be complete with talking about their coveted bags – the PS1 and PS11 - that will be available in even more kaleidoscopic colors and sizes this Fall.

Versace and Versus Fall 2012 Preview

For her Fall 2012 collection for Versace, Donatella Versace explored a darker side of glamour reminiscent of Gianni Versace’s last collection before his tragic murder. Crosses, studs, and metal hardware adorned structured outwear, cutout dresses, and bold blouses, while hourglass silhouettes gave the edgy pieces a sex appeal à la Rooney Mara.
Putting forth a younger gothic-chic vibe, Versus picked up where big sis Versace left off focusing on graphics and acid tie-dyes. A punk rock fashion movement in North London inspired the razor-slashed and sequined dresses, which were standout pieces for us.
