Outfit Inspiration: How to Wear A Pop of Color
We’re all about brights this summer. They’re everywhere we turn. But they’ve gotta be worn in moderation. Elyse came to work the other day in a cool summery ensemble that had just the right splash of electricity. She built her outfit around a neon tangerine A.L.C. top, which she layered under a neutral, blush-tone Haute Hippie blazer from the same color family. She paired her bright top with a silver and white print Elizabeth and James skirt that also works as a neutral and adds a textural element without competing with her vibrant top. She accessorized with long beaded necklaces from The Woods (an Elyse Walker staple!) and embellished sandals, for a pitch-perfect office outfit that can be worn straight to a post-work dinner or event. Just remember, a little color goes a long way. Happy dressing!

Coachella may be over, but with summer just around the corner, you can still take fashion inspiration from the desert stylings of Elyse and our buyer/stylist Nicole Diaco. Check out what they wore to this spring’s ultimate music festival.
Nicole’s outfit is based around a Coachella staple, cut-off denim shorts. (These are Elizabeth and James). She paired them with a peek-a-boo Isabel Marant top layered under an open button-down and Isabel Marant ‘Dicker’ booties. A wide brim hat, Balenciaga bag and lots of bracelets pull this look together.
Elyse looks effortlessly cool wearing a Thomas Wylde top and layered necklaces from Piper Dano and The Woods Fine Jewelry. She balanced the proportion of her billowy top with black skinny jeans and platform sneakers. Of course, no look is complete without a fab bag. This one is a snakeskin Balenciaga Papier Tote.

Outfit Inspiration: One Client, Three Looks
It’s always fun to help a client put together a few head-to-toe looks for a new season. Nicole styled Susan in three super-chic outfits that encapsulate many of the big Spring 2012 trends. Take a look:
Bold florals, like this Givenchy orchid and bird of paradise-print dress, are a huge trend this season. Pair a vibrant dress like this one with a bright shoe, like these coral suede and cork Giuseppe Zanotti platform slingbacks. For cool nights, a cropped cardigan is key. This one is Azzedine Alaia.
Blush tones are also popping up everywhere for Spring. Here Nicole paired a pleated Alexander McQueen dress with tone-on-tone jewels from Sable & Zac. She finished the look with McQueen nude platform pumps that elongate Susan’s silhouette, giving her legs for days.
Finally, last Spring’s little white dress gets an update for SS12 with a beachy print and gold hardware. Perfect for sunset cocktails overlooking the beach, this Versace minidress looks chic with accessories in blush and nude tones. The clutch and shoes are both Alexander McQueen.

Lauren put together this casual but sophisticated look today that’s perfect for heading from the office to apres-work cocktails or a day running from meeting to meeting. The pretty spring palette combines soft cream, blush and toffee tones.
She started by layering this cropped By Zoe “Malia” boucle jacket ($350) over a hip-length Enza Costa scoop neck tank in Blush ($93) for the perfect proportions up top. Then she added Genetic Denim’s “The Shane” faux front cigarette jeans in Feather ($225), and pulled the look together with a coffee-colored Alexander McQueen skull scarf ($295) and a sleek white Balenciaga Work Bag with rose gold hardware ($1895). You can further accessorize a look like this with a long tassel necklace and flats, like Lauren did, or add a pair of ankle booties, for a slightly sexier twist.
