Outfit Inspo :: Elyse

Elyse, Stylists, Uncategorized

It’s our New Year’s resolution to bring you more outfit inspiration from our amazingly ahead-of-the-curve stylists, and though 2012 isn’t quite here yet, there’s no time like the present to get started. This week, Elyse punctuated an all-black look with luxe pops of emerald, which is a nice way to infuse a little bit of holiday cheer while still maintaining an edgy vibe. Here, she paired a shredded Raquel Allegra top with leather Balenciaga pants and YSL boots. Her bold blasts of green come in the form of layered Sable + Zac necklaces and a gorgeous Jil Sander crocodile handbag.

I just got back from an amazing trip to Cabo San Lucas, where I spent a fabulous week resting and recuperating with my husband David and son Kevin. After a busy first part of the year that was packed with buying trips to Europe and New York, it was great to finally pack my suitcase for a getaway! Here, a roundup of my favorite things to do, places to visit and cocktails to indulge in while south of the border.

- Elyse

We started spring break right with a glass of Chablis for breakfast! I like Domaine Vincent Dauvissat ‘La Forest’. Vino in hand, we headed via boat to The Office for ceviche, guac and margaritas. The Office is right on the beach – if only every work day could be spent in the sand!

What I’m wearing: Genetic shorts and Blu Life t-shirt. (Available in-store, call 310.230.8882 x 10)

The 5 Mix and Match Pieces I Packed for Spring Break

I’m in Cabo San Lucas this week for spring break, so I’ll be blogging about some of my favorite places and things to do in Mexico. But before going anywhere, you of course have to pack. Here’s what I can’t live without on vacation this season.

- Elyse

1. A little white dress

Forget the LBD, this is the spring of the Little White Dress! A loose-fitting white dress is what you’ll want to wear out to dinner in the tropics. My favorite of the season is this Stella McCartney beaded slip dress. It’s so pretty and feminine, and the detailing is absolutely amazing. It’s definitely a dress you need to see up close. I guarantee you’ll fall in love with it, just like I did.

2. A colorblock or printed tank

This season is all about color – especially colorblocking – and this M Missoni tank is the perfect piece to pack because it incorporates so many easy-to-match colors. The combination of blues, yellows, greens and a touch of black make it the ideal go-with-anything top.

3. A neutral pair of shorts that goes with everything

It pays to pack a pair of shorts that you can mix and match with whatever is in your suitcase or throw on over your bikini bottoms at lunch time. I like these Current Elliot green Shorty Captain shorts. They work nicely with the M Missoni tank and Antik Batik sandals shown above.

4. A pair of jeweled sandals

Wearing sandals or flip flops with clear crystal embellishments is a smart way to dress up casual beach clothes and add a glam touch during the day or after dark. Right now, I’m loving this pair from Antik Batik. Wear them around the pool with your bikini and Current Elliot shorts, then pair them with the Stella McCartney dress for a night on the town.

5. A canvas beach tote

A roomy bag to carry to the beach is an absolute must. Look for something that will fit all of your sunshine essentials: sunscreen, water, a trashy beach read, your iPod or Kindle, sunglasses, and a foldable straw hat. A neutral shade with a cute print, like the one this Bottega Veneta tote features, works well with a range of outfits and won’t get ruined if it gets wet.

Elyse’s Styling Tip of the Week

Elyse, Stylists

“When you feel like you have nothing to wear, throw on a pair of jeans and a tee, and then dress it up with statement jewelry, like this oversize cross necklace and a stack of bracelets. It’s an easy way to instantly add personal style to a basic outfit.” -Elyse

Scroll through the gallery above to get Elyse’s look.

Right now we’re loving Elizabeth and James Jimi Jeans ($245) paired with this grey Elizabeth and James tee ($172), which has a sheer panel on the back. Once you’ve got the foundation of your outfit, add bold accessories like Giuseppe Zanotti’s cross necklace ($420) or Givenchy’s gold-plated rosary necklace ($1940). Finish the look with rhinestone bangles from Lanvin ($495) or  a pile BSABLE bracelets (prices vary), which Elyse is wearing in the photo.
