J’aime l’automne! We’re so excited for fall! Over the past few months, we’ve shown different ways to wear sleeveless and summertime jumpsuits, but now the trend is transitioning into Fall 2011. A sleek, long sleeve jumpsuit can be a great canvas for a fall look. Add a chunky necklace or brightly colored bag like this YSL tote (available in-store). For extra drama, put on a funky fedora like this one from Costume National. While a jumpsuit can feel very retro, this one from Stella McCartney has very clean lines providing a modern starting point for a fun, edgy evening look.

Style Tip: How to Take a Cover-Up from the Beach to the Street
“Don’t limit a cute cover-up just to the pool or the sand, make it do double duty as a flirty top that you can wear in everyday life. Pair it with denim cut-offs and a pair of Jimmy Choo open-toe clogs (rather than flip flops) to dress it up. Ditch your straw tote and add a statement bag to give the look an air of sophistication. You can also dress it up with piled-on jewelry. I love Sable + Zac wrap bracelets (available in-store). Don’t be afraid to show a flash of skin: instead of a bikini top, wear a black or a colorful bra underneath a sheer or lacy cover-up, like the one pictured here from Jen’s Pirate Booty.”

“The 70s are back in a big way, and high-waisted jeans are very of-the-moment. This retro, wide-leg cut is both figure flattering and elongating. (So feel free to stash away any muffin top-producing low rise denim for awhile.)
I suggest pairing high-waisted pants with a simple fitted top, tucked in, like this white tank from Beautiful People. To complete the look, pair it with a chunky heel and a layering necklace like this Peruvian opal dangle from Sable & Zac.
If the fitted top makes you uncomfortable and you prefer something loose, I suggest a shorter top so you don’t lose the elongating effect. And if statement jewelry isn’t your forte, try a printed or bright colored blouse like this cropped blouse from Chloe (available in-store only). Remember people, high-waisted pants create legs for days!”

Styling Tip of the Week: How to Wear the Nautical Trend
“The nautical look is huge for Spring 2011 – and looks great paired with 70′s-style pieces like wide leg jeans and wedges. To recreate this look, balance horizontal stripes on top with a pair of bell bottom jeans, like J Brand’s “Love Story” or Mother Denim’s “Wilder” cut. A dark wash lends a preppier look, while a lighter wash yields a more casual vibe. I accessorized with more navy: a soft, suede Proenza Schouler messenger bag. For shoes, I picked tan suede Pedro Garcia espadrilles to tie in the season’s earthy trend. If you want to take the maritime reference beyond navy and stripes, chunky gold jewelry or rope detailing is also a nice touch.”

“Mixing prints is no longer a fashion faux pas! Get creative: Try mixing polka dots with floral; pair bold, large-scale prints with tiny patterns; or put a graphic piece together with an animal print. There are no hard-and-fast rules, but a good tip is to stay within the same color family when mixing two prints, like I did in the photo above.” – Molly Rabuchin, Elyse Walker stylist
