Outfit Inspiration: How to Wear A Pop of Color

We’re all about brights this summer. They’re everywhere we turn. But they’ve gotta be worn in moderation. Elyse came to work the other day in a cool summery ensemble that had just the right splash of electricity. She built her outfit around a neon tangerine A.L.C. top, which she layered under a neutral, blush-tone Haute Hippie blazer from the same color family. She paired her bright top with a silver and white print Elizabeth and James skirt that also works as a neutral and adds a textural element without competing with her vibrant top. She accessorized with long beaded necklaces from The Woods (an Elyse Walker staple!) and embellished sandals, for a pitch-perfect office outfit that can be worn straight to a post-work dinner or event. Just remember, a little color goes a long way. Happy dressing!

Fendi Fall 2012 Accessories Preview

Fendi has long been Italy’s premier fur house, and for their Fall 2012 collection, Karl Lagerfeld and Silvia Venturini combined the house’s luxurious techniques with various animal skins, furs, and prints to give their signature bags a new look. Some of our favorite new Baguette styles include a purple and black snakeskin, a sequined leopard print, and a cowhide print with bold red embellishments. The experiment with different materials continued to their medium size totes available in geometric prints and such animal hairs as goat, as well as go-to fabrications like black leather. (After all, a girl can never have too many little black bags!) Finally, we were dying over the shoes – a certain pair of cutout green and black fur booties to be exact. With the days of floor-length minks long gone, Karl and Silvia have captured fashion’s new take on fur in a fun and modern way. Charlotte Olympia Fall 2012 Preview

Newsflash: We’re adding London-based footwear designer Charlotte Olympia to the Elyse Walker mix this Fall! Each pair of the designer’s whimsical shoes is handcrafted in Italy and features a signature gold spiderweb on the sole. Charlotte Olympia has already made a name for herself among the celebrity set with fashion tastemakers like Alexa Chung, Katy Perry, and Sarah Jessica Parker all sporting her Kitty Flats, featured above. The smoking flat, one of our fave styles, will also be available for Fall in a rich red hue with cobweb detailing and spider embellishment. Charlotte’s signature web can also be found adorning some fantastic clutches that pair perfectly with her sky-high, architectural platforms for a night out. While visiting showrooms in Milan, we saw the PERFECT party bags for Fall, and we do not take that statement lightly. Bottega Veneta has always been known for their craftsmanship and woven detailing, but this Fall, Tomas Maier takes Bottega Veneta’s signature look to new places. The Knot, one of Bottega’s most iconic bags, will be available in a new metallic scale-like texture and a rich satin lavender that we adore. Coachella Outfit Inspo

Coachella may be over, but with summer just around the corner, you can still take fashion inspiration from the desert stylings of Elyse and our buyer/stylist Nicole Diaco. Check out what they wore to this spring’s ultimate music festival.

Nicole’s outfit is based around a Coachella staple, cut-off denim shorts. (These are Elizabeth and James). She paired them with a peek-a-boo Isabel Marant top layered under an open button-down and Isabel Marant ‘Dicker’ booties. A wide brim hat, Balenciaga bag and lots of bracelets pull this look together.

Elyse looks effortlessly cool wearing a Thomas Wylde top and layered necklaces from Piper Dano and The Woods Fine Jewelry. She balanced the proportion of her billowy top with black skinny jeans and platform sneakers. Of course, no look is complete without a fab bag. This one is a snakeskin Balenciaga Papier Tote.

With their Fall 2012 collection for Rag & Bone, David Neville and Marcus Wainwright demonstrated once again that they have an uncanny ability to know what women want. Tanks and sweaters were not only special enough to stand alone, but also great for layering on cold winter nights with their standout black and bronze skinny pants. We particularly loved the outwear, which was inspired by a blend of English tailoring and Indian textiles. David and Marcus mixed prints and fabrics just like their urban-dwelling downtown girl would.
