Cedars-Sinai Fetes Elyse Walker and The Pink Party

Recently, the board of directors of Cedars-Sinai, along with Chairman Lawrence B. Platt, honored Elyse for her contribution to Cedars-Sinai Women’s Cancer Program and success with the Pink Party with a special dinner at Fig & Olive on Melrose Ave. Many of the Pink Party host committee members and sponsors came out to show their appreciation for Elyse, as did the director of the Women’s Cancer Program Dr. Beth Y. Karlan. Here are some highlights from the night.

A Sneak Peek at Chloe Pre-Fall 2012

Creative director Claire Waight Keller’s Pre-Fall 2012 collection for Chloe continued the soft color palette of cream, burnt orange and buttery yellow that was shown on the Spring runway in Paris. For Pre-Fall, the collection had less to do with massive amounts of pleats and more emphasis on 60s and 70s-referencing separates, such as cropped patterned jackets, menswear-inspired trousers and sleek cigarette pants. Givenchy Pre-Fall 2012 Sneak Peek

We just returned from New York where we saw the all the Pre-Fall 2012 collections. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be giving you a sneak peek at what you’ll be seeing in the store this summer. First stop: Givenchy, where wild floral prints and color blocking were still going strong. Spring’s bright palette will continue into Pre-Fall, so don’t be afraid to stock up on color starting right now. It will serve you well through the next six months, at least. Some other standout pieces at Givenchy included twisted, body-conscious dresses, horn-shaped earrings and a handbag featuring a snarling dog. Yeah, that’s right…Givenchy is looking pretty fierce for Pre-Fall.

The Best and the worst of the golden globes

Let’s start with the good news first. There were some major fashion moments on the red carpet at Sunday night’s Golden Globes. Angelina rocked it in a directional Atelier Versace gown that was all kinds of high fashion. We loved the strong shoulders on Emma Stone’s wispy Lanvin gown and the cool eagle belt accent she added. If Charlize ever stops getting great roles (doubtful), we’re pretty sure that catwalker could be her fall-back career, as she looked very supermodel-esque in this plunging Dior gown that very few actresses could have pulled off.

And now…on to the bad news. Amanda Peet wore a wedding cake designed by Marc Jacobs. (Sorry, Marc and Amanda, we love you, but this is not one of Amanda’s better looks.) Lea Michele wore a slinky Elie Saab dress that would have looked killer on Halle Berry five years ago, but ending up looking a lot like a gaudy ice skating costume on Lea. And, we really, really wanted to like the brush-stroke Monique Lhullier gown that Sarah Michelle Gellar’s two-year old ~~stylist~~ daughter picked out for her, but it just didn’t work on her tiny frame. Maybe Charlize could have pulled that one off. We’d love to see a fashion face-off.

We Heart Cabo

Elyse, Nicole and Wendy spent New Year’s in Cabo, and nothing gets us thinking about all the things we’re loving from the Resort and Pre-Spring collections like a little vacay in paradise. Right now, the store is full of color – neon Proenza Schouler PS1 bags and bright Proenza tees; hot pink and turquoise Bottega Veneta clutches; coral, fuschia and canary Giuseppe Zanotti slingbacks; bright green Balenciaga bags…the list goes on. If you’re feeling inspired by all the color that’s happening right now – and the unseasonably warm weather we’re having in LA – come in and check it out!

Elyse is back in New York seeing the Fall 2012 collections, if you can believe it. We’ll have a sneak peek of those for you in the coming weeks, but until them we wanted to share some of our pix from Cabo with you. We hope your 2012 is off to a great start!
