It may be summer outside, but here at Elyse Walker, we’re ready for Fall 2011. We have the air cranked up and Chloe is keeping warm in this boho-glam rabbit fur jacket from Elizabeth and James’ pre-fall collection, a great solution to the age-old it’s-boiling-outside-but-freezing-inside problem. We’re also loving the vest version of this jacket, which you can check out here. It’s the perfect transitional piece: throw it on over a dress on cool summer nights, then wear it over long sleeve looks when fall’s crisp breeze blows in.

Katie Hintz-Zambrano’s Summer ’11 Obsessions

Jil Sander

If I had all the money in the world, I think I would own the entire Spring 2011 Jil Sander collection. I love the idea of a clean white tee with a boldly colored ballroom skirt. It’s a throwback to that late ‘90s, early ‘00s minimalism that I grew up loving. That was the era when I became obsessed with fashion and studying Vogue and Bazaar, and my yearning for these types of pared down clothes and silhouttes has never really left me!

“Summertime calls for bright, cheery colors, but many of the season’s best clothes are neutrals. So, in order to combine both the neutral and bright trends, I used accessories to add two vibrant pops of color to my otherwise neutral outfit. You probably already know that adding a splash of color is a great way to punch up an outfit, but it can be a little trickier to add two pops of color. To avoid looking matchy-matchy, I chose Proenza Schouler’s PS1 bag in yellow as my main megawatt accessory, and then added a more subtle pop of color in the form of these red, gray and black Balenciaga heels. They gray and black tones in the Balenciaga shoes tie back into the outfit perfectly, while the red tone works with all of the colors incorporated into my outfit, including yellow. The key is to choose two bold colors that work well together, but to also make sure they are not placed right next to each other.”

“I love this little Proenza Schouler printed camisole, but it seems like such a daytime piece–the sunny color and pattern just lend themselves to the daylight. I really wanted to wear it out for drinks after work, so in order to funk it up, I paired it with sexy, black Alexander Wang shorts and a really edgy pair of Alexander McQueen ankle boots. The Vince jacket I threw on over the camisole adds an element of evening sophistication and keeps the ensemble from showing too much skin. I accessorized with this leopard print Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci bag to keep with the funky theme of the outfit. The little pop of leopard works as a neutral while adding an interesting element to the look.”
